In this context, Türk Telekom is preparing to lay the groundwork for the Sivas Zara SPP after signing an electricity transmission connection agreement with TEİAŞ. The innovative SPP investment, which stands out with its environmentally friendly approach, will be one of the highest-capacity unlicensed facilities in Turkey. “Our SPP investments are of great importance for our country’s energy independence and a sustainable future,” said Turkish Telecom CEO Ümit Önal. “We continue our investments that shape Turkey’s digital future in every area of life and across the country. While focusing on technologies that design the world of tomorrow, we place sustainability principles at the center of our strategies. Through our digital transformation solutions provided in many cities, we support energy savings across a wide spectrum, from traffic to public safety, irrigation to lighting, in areas such as transportation, energy, environment, life, health, and security. Our solutions related to smart living, powered by 5G, artificial intelligence, and IoT technologies, contribute to the efficient use of resources, and we are leading pioneering efforts for green transformation by turning towards renewable sources such as solar and wind energy through next-generation eco-friendly communication technologies. With our SPP investments, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to managing the risks caused by climate change. In this regard, we are preparing to establish a facility in Sivas Zara, covering 96 MWe of the total assigned 405.8 MWe capacity for our company. We aim to complete the construction of the plant, for which we will lay the foundation in the first month of the new year, by the end of the year. Our project, which has a capacity corresponding to 15% of our company’s current annual electricity consumption, will also contribute to our environmental responsibility by reducing the carbon footprint. We plan to complete the remaining part of the allocated 405.8 MWe SPP capacity with investments to be made in two different cities in the coming period. Our SPP investments in different cities are of great importance for our country's energy independence and a sustainable future. To leave a more livable world for future generations, we will continue to invest in our country’s tomorrows with a technology understanding that improves the future." The SPP, which is expected to be completed within the year after its foundations are laid in the first months of 2025, will be one of the largest renewable energy facilities in Turkey, producing nearly 200 million kWh of energy annually.
