Trump's Election Victory Ratified by Congress

WASHINGTON – On Monday, the U.S. Congress officially certified the victory of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming November elections. This certification clears the way for Trump's inauguration on January 20th.

The certification of election results from all 50 states and the District of Columbia took place during a brief and formal joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Vice President Kamala Harris presided over the session in her capacity as Senate president.

This year's ceremony was significantly more peaceful compared to four years ago, when Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol to impede the certification of Trump’s defeat to then-President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Despite repeated and unfounded claims from Trump that his 2020 loss was due to widespread electoral fraud, he secured a victory over Harris on November 5th. Following the certification, Trump celebrated the confirmation on his social media platform Truth Social, stating, "Congress is certifying our great election victory today - a historic moment. MAGA!”

The final tally confirmed that Trump received 312 Electoral College votes compared to Harris’s 226, aligning with the primary election results.
