Samsung Electronics Plans to Boost Artificial Intelligence in Consumer Electronics
Samsung Electronics plans to increase its artificial intelligence efforts in devices to surpass global market growth in the consumer electronics segment this year. Jong-Hee Han, the CEO of Samsung Electronics, stated in an interview that the global consumer electronics market for smartphones, TVs, and home appliances is expected to grow by approximately 3% by 2025. Han, who is also the head of the Device eXperience (DX) division at Samsung Electronics, expects the mobile devices business to grow by 4-5% this year, with potential acceleration in the growth of the TV and home appliances units.
Samsung Electronics is increasing its efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its devices by placing AI chips in refrigerators, washing machines, and robot vacuum cleaners. Additionally, it is enhancing AI functionalities in premium flagship smartphone models such as the Galaxy S24 series, which features numerous AI capabilities, including real-time translation for phone calls in certain foreign languages. This move comes as Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have emerged as serious competitors to Samsung, offering high-end smartphones at significantly lower prices.
