AMD Unveils New AI-Powered Computer and Gaming Chips at CES 2025
Foreks - AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) is showcasing its latest artificial intelligence computer and graphics chips at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. On Monday, the company announced the new Ryzen AI Max, along with additional Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen AI 200 central processing units (CPUs), as well as high-power chips for gaming desktops, laptops, and handheld gaming systems.
These chips will enable AMD to compete more effectively with its rivals Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and Qualcomm in the emerging field of artificial intelligence computing, and to increase its competition with Intel in two key markets for the semiconductor firm: desktop and mobile gaming.
The Ryzen AI Max chips are designed for high-performance laptops targeting gamers and content creators. The company claims they will feature unified memory of up to 128 GB and a neural processing unit capable of reaching up to 50 TOPS (trillions of operations per second). TOPS is a general measure of a chip's artificial intelligence performance. AMD highlights TOPS as a key feature consumers should consider when choosing artificial intelligence computers, alongside competitors Intel, Nvidia (NVDA (NASDAQ:NVDA)), and Qualcomm. AMD also states that the Ryzen AI Max will come in a PRO series, which will include AMD PRO features such as enhanced security and enterprise management capabilities.
