AWS Announces Plans to Invest 'At Least' $11 Billion to Expand Data Center Infrastructure in Georgia

Amazon's cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), announced plans to invest "at least" $11 billion in Georgia to expand its infrastructure to support various cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. AWS estimates that the investment will create approximately 550 jobs in the state. In a press release, the company stated, "AWS is proud to expand our operations in Georgia to help develop next-generation advanced technologies like artificial intelligence. We are grateful to the state and local leaders who partner with us and look forward to keeping Georgia at the forefront of the digital age." This investment by AWS comes about eight months after the company announced it would transfer the same amount - $11 billion - in cash to its data centers in Indiana. AWS has committed to creating at least 1,000 jobs through this investment.
