Consumer Confidence Slightly Declines in Japan
In Japan, the outlook of households towards the economy showed a slight negative trend by the end of December 2024. According to the monthly survey results conducted by the Japanese Cabinet, the seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index declined from 36.4 in the previous month to 36.2 points in December. Market expectations indicated that the index would rise to 36.6. The index reflecting consumers' views on general income conditions decreased by 0.2 points to 34.1. The income growth index remained unchanged at 40.2, the employment index increased by 0.2 points to 41.2, and the willingness to purchase durable goods index fell by 0.5 points to 29.4. The survey was conducted with 8,400 households as of December 15.
