Chinese Zijin Anticipates Lithium Project in Congo to Commence Production in Q1 2026

According to a report by the Chinese financial institution Cailianshe, Zijin Mining Group from China is expected to start production at its first lithium exploration project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in the first quarter of 2026. Zijin initiated the project in 2022 through a joint venture with the state-owned DRC company Cominiere. The Katamba Mining joint venture obtained rights for two greenfield exploration and mining projects around the Manono lithium mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
